About us
The mission of ABCs and Rice is to activate global awareness and mobilize meaningful resources to support communities caught in the cycle of poverty.
What we do?
Most children in our program don’t have to choose between ABCs and Rice and regular school, they do both. Students spend half the day in our English classes and the other half at Khmer school, so they can keep up with their elementary education while gaining extra learning support.
We run eight level-based english classes so children can develop at the pace that fits them, whether they’re learning their first words or building stronger reading and conversation.
How we do it?
ABCs and Rice is a dedicated community organization based in the Poom Sala and Kroligne area of Siem Reap, Cambodia.
We currently support over 250 students and their families through a combination of education, nourishment, and community care.
Every child in our programs spends part of their day learning at ABCs and Rice and the other part attending their local Khmer school.

If you’re in Siem Reap, you’re welcome to visit ABCs and Rice and see the school for yourself. We’re happy to show you around, introduce you to our programs, and help you understand how education and food support come together in daily life here. Visits are arranged in advance so we can choose a good time that respects classes and the children’s routine.
How it began
ABCs and Rice began with a simple belief: children deserve the chance to learn, even when poverty makes school feel out of reach.
Over time, that belief grew into a school and support programs for children and families in the Poom Sala and Kroligne Village area of Siem Reap. The work continues through local leadership, community relationships, and supporters around the world who choose to stand with our students.
